This project is an homage to the music genre SYNTHWAVE.

 

Heavily inspired by 80s pop culture, this genre of music is synth-driven, melodic, and filled with nostalgia. It has been growing in popularity since the mid to late 2000s as there has been a huge resurgence and revival of retro-themed media and entertainment. Numerous video games, music videos, and movies have use this kind of music as well as a 2D pixel art style of visuals.

 

As someone who grew up during the 80s and 90s when this kind of entertainment was actually happening, for this project I wanted to revisit a part of my childhood. Below you will see a tribute to the kinds of visuals, music, and entertainment that I used to enjoy when I was younger.

 

This project was made in After Effects and Resolume Arena was used to project the video using a projector on to a square white surface with two projecting circles to give a three dimensional effect of moving circles.
