This project came from the Commercial Marketing department due to an increased demand for classroom security. Scope of the project was to show how the indication window on the engineering  prototype would look on the current sectional indicator (images shown on next page). A simple project for a first year Industrial Design co-op to tackle. I was not the typical Industrial Design co-op, and what they got was a completely re-imagined solution that reshaped the product line and increased category sales over 60% in the first year.

The above image shows the initial direction Schlage was heading to offer a product that addressed a growing demand for classroom security. Increasing the size of the indicator window gains a slight advantage; however, the appropriate solution requires a better understanding of the market/situation it is intended for to truly gain a competitive advantage in classroom security.
