Black Magic
Photography / Creative / Retouch : PAUL and LARA

Everything began with a single photograph (the diptich) we decided to dedicate in memory of Sophie Lancaster. Her tragic story short:

"The Murder of Sophie Lancaster was a murder case in the United Kingdom in 2007. The victim, along with her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, was attacked by a number of males in their mid-teenswhile walking through Stubbylee Park in Bacup, Rossendalein, Lancashire. As a result of her severe head injuries she went into a coma, never regained consciousness, and died thirteen days later. The attack may have been provoked by the couple's wearing gothic fashion and being members of the goth subculture."

This first picture inspired us to make this project. You can probably already tell why we chose to name it like that.
Black Magic is a word game. It can be related to voodoo magic or simply to the beauty (magic) of the black. Everyone is free to pick a version.  The concept was to use black color in every image, so that they connect and to show that you can perceive this color not only as something negative and dark.
This project is very personal and behind it there are lots of shared feelings, emotions and inner protest.
It consists of 20 photographs. Zero budget!
