The project that given was to design a magazine cover and editorial.
The magazine's genre was completed up to us and the content that we chose.
I wanted to design a womens snowboard magazine, because there are not many snowboard magazines out currently that are geared towards women. I really wanted the magazine to reach out to a demographic of women that enjoy to go outdoors and being on a mountain. With that in mind I also wanted something that both a man and women would enjoy and gain useful knowledge from. Although the magazine is called GRLPOWDR it is really just an awesome snowboard magazine for both men and women that like to keep in the loop of the newest and coolest snowboard tricks and tips.
Every page of this magazine was completely about snowboarding, including the ads.
I designed ads that I thought would be in a regular snowboard magazine because although it was a womens magazine I wanted it to be universal. I didnt want the audience to think they were different in anyway just because they were a female.
I designed two different cover options for the magazine, GRLPOWDR. Both covers were designed with very different colour schemes because I wanted to show that even though it was a womens snowboard magazine it still could be read by everyone.
I enjoyed designing this project and creating a magazine idea that in my eyes could really be, it turned out better than I couldve imagined. I hope this isnt the last time I design a magazine editorial and cover.
