The Zombie Apocalypse

These days, many Singaporeans live in a fast paced lifestyle and spend a huge amount of time at work or in school. This inadvertently greatly reduces their time spent to slow down. As a result, many suffer dire consequences to their mental well-being and interpersonal relationships. Hence, The Zombie Apocalypse is a data sculpture that provides an insight of the average walking pace at Raffles Place MRT Station per minute from 3–7pm, as to how fast Singaporeans are walking due to a fast paced lifestyle these days.

Data was collected per minute consecutively for a week from 3–7pm at the same spot at Raffles Place MRT Station. The mess from the strings and the height of the strings differ during each time period. For example, the lesser number of steps per minute = less messy and height of strings are shorter, and vice versa for when there are more steps per minute.
