For this self-portrait I wanted to portray my passion for digital cinematography and music. The shot incorporates my SonyFS700 and a piano with sheet music all within the single frame. After working through several filters, I decided to utilize the Pearlescent 7 diffusion filter. Although I think the unfiltered shot is decent, the harsh shadows around my cheeks and around my eyes were a little bit distracting. Applying the Pearlescent filter helped diffuse the dark shadows and gave my skin a younger look to it. This was the best filter I found for my self-portrait, however; I think I actually prefer the unfiltered shot. This particular shot allowed me to work with many different filters on a live subject and learn what each diffusion filter does.

For the shot of the Canon camera I used a fairly long lens to execute an extreme close-up. The reason I wanted a long lens was because I wanted to explore the Soft/FX filters and as a result, I decided to apply the Soft/FX 1 diffusion filter. The reason I selected this filter was because the Canons lens was slightly dirty and I wanted to see how the Soft/FX filter fared in keeping the images blemishes out of focus, while maintaining the sharpness of the overall shot. I also wanted to experiment with this filter should I have alive subject to shoot in the future where I have to consider a Soft/FX filter.

For the shot of this elephant sculpture, I began to experiment with the Tiffen Pro Mist filters and decided to apply the Pro Mist 8 filter. I love how the filter created a glowing halo around the luminescence highlights across the top of the sculpture and the elephants tusks. Also, I took the shot with a preset picture profile that I had created for this shot in particular which essentially enhanced the reds withing the frame. The red highlights in the unfiltered photo was almost too much. The Pro Mist filter helped even out the image, complimenting the reds rather than overpowering the image.
