Domestic Violence Campaign
'make a choice' was the brand design for St. Helen’s domestic violence campaign aimed at 13 - 21 year olds living in the St. Helen’s area. It is more than a logo, it is a colour scheme and feel which should be applied to all media associated with the domestic violence campaign. Domestic Violence is a choice and the logo asks the audience to think about the choices they make and the kind of life they would like to have.

It is targeted at the St. Helen’s area, employing the colour schemes already in use by the council, safer st. Helens and the St. Helens Rugby Club, so the campaign should already have an air of familiarity about it. The inspiration for the campaign came from the nickname for the St. Helens Rugby Club (“the Saints”) as well as their kit colours of red and white. It makes use of the Oscar Wilde quote “the only difference between saints and sinners is that every saint has a past and every sinner has a future”.

Research indicates that there is a rise in domestic violence around the time of large sporting events, so rugby themed material has been developed which could be utilised as posters at rugby matches or as double page spreads in the match programmes. It can also be amended to target high pressure occasions such as Christmas or the summer holidays. The leaflet has been set up in the same way so that the same leaflet targets both perpetrator and victim covering the same areas but with different advice depending on the side you choose to read.
