Pár hónappal ezelőtt a kezünkbe akadt egy könyv, ami gyorsan kézről-kézre járt a csapatban. James Dashner Maze Runner című alkotása azonnal kedvenc lett az irodában, így úgy döntöttünk, csinálunk ennek egy könyvborítót. Az eddigi kiadásoknak, csak a film hangulatára alapozott borítói voltak, nem volt egy egyedi karaktere. Mi valami olyat szerettünk volna csinálni, ami könnyen, viszonylag költséghatékonyan kivitelezhető, mégis kreatív és a legfontosabb, hogy visszaadja a sztori vagy a szereplők egy-egy elemét, tulajdonságát.
A könyv izgalmas közege arra késztetett minket, hogy valami egyszerűbb hátteret és tipográfiát kreáljunk a műnek, de legyen benne valami plusz. Így született meg a végén ez a világítós borító, amely UV-színű direkt színnyomással készült. Így nappal csak a labirintus látszik, este viszont a világító betűk és a bújkáló "siratók" is feltűnnek.
A few months before we caught a book what was passing from hand to hand. The novel by James Dashner titled Maze Runner was turned to be one of our favorite that’s why we decided to create a book cover for this. So far the covers based on the atmosphere of the movie, they hadn’t got a unique character. We wanted to present something what is simple and money-saving but creative and the most important: what’s refering to the attributes of the main chararters or the story.
The exciting atmosphere of the book motivated us to create a simple background and typography but there should be something unusual in it. That’s how we have designed this luminous cover what has made with the technique of spot color with UV paint. Therefore in sunlight we can see only the labyrinth but at night the luminous letters and hiding "grievers" appear too.
