Darla and the gang.

I started drawing dogs at the request of my son and his wife, Heidi. They are involved in French Bulldog Rescue and had two frenchies of their own. Our first granddog, Darla was the Grande Dame, and Spanky was soon to follow. They had asked me to draw them both and I sent them these two portraits. Later on, Ava then Manny became willing subjects, now followed by Penny.
Darla, the Grand Dame and the first French Bulldog to join the family. She was regal and smart and paved the way for the others.
Spanky was lovable, goofy and often a pillow for Darla. He loved the kids growing up and his family intensely.
Ava was an owner surrender who joined the family. She was beautiful and smart and soft as could be.
Manny was a foster dog who decided he wanted us. He hated most dogs but loved Ava and Darla and our entire family.
Penelope is a puppy who's mother was rescued from a Puppy Mill while pregnant. She is amazing and full of life. This illustration captures her joy of running around on a sunny day.
