A project in between the fields of Art and Design:
How to “express” (personal) and “communicate” (professional) and at the same time?
“My Sky” is whatever you think it is.
Many different approaches are possible, but most of all it is a personal project. If you want.
“My Sky” is an option to be personal, experimental and subjective- and create something different. How to define the abstract and turn into a specific project? How much do design strategies help? Is the gut-feeling enough to create a complex outcome? Ohh no, this project is weird! Is it?
Materialisation of "My Sky": Typograffiti
The Concept consists of combining Graffiti lettering with some of the most well known Typefaces.
I asked my friends, friends of friends, connections met through the graffiti world to draw their own interpretation of a typeface.
I assigned to each one their graffiti names designed in a specific typeface with just the outline of it.
Their task is then to draw it the way they want, the only rule is to keep at his minimum the body/skeleton of the letter.
All the sketches will then be compiled in a book that is called “Typograffiti”, showing the original as well as the own interpretations from the artists.
THE BOOK
TypoGraffiti is a project that combines two opposites disciplines of the same world: Graffiti and Typography.
This book collaborates works from European graffiti artists, also called “Writers”, that are most of the time working freely in the streets, rooftops, metro tunnels or trains.
TypoGraffiti creates the bridge between free handstyle lettering graffitis and structural conformism of classical typography.
Each Writer received their pseudonym designed in a specific typeface, fitting with their own particular style.
Their task was then to reinterpret it the way they feel, having for only rule to keep at his minimum the body/skeleton of the letter.

This book showed also another vision of the Graffiti world. Like most of the people think, it is not about vandalising properties but a culture made of creative minds that shares the same passion for letters, moments, actions that most of the time leads to new friendships and connections.
