City Chicken is the story of Crispy. She is a duck who has been led to believe that she is a City Chicken. She and her friends live in an urban park and they have heard of more City Chickens who are living in a garage, in another neighborhood, in another corner of the city. Crispy and her growing group of friends set out to find these City Chickens on a homemade raft. Along the way, they find some things that they expected to find, and they find some other things that they couldn't have imagined in their wildest dreams.

 

City Chicken is a novel written by Todd Miller. The book is written for young readers or to be read to kids of any age.

 

Here is what the main character design ended up looking like once refined a bit. I know a duck doesn't have teeth, but it added to her goofiness factor that she definitely displays throughout the book. A duckling with teeth is kind of cute too.
