Hippopotamus might not look like it but they are the most dangerous animals in South Africa. Killing more people than any other because they become highly territorial and defensive when out of the water, especially when with young. For their size their speed is also extremely misleading, they can reach speeds of up to 30 km/h running on land.

But when respected and viewed from a distance they can be very entertaining, especially when two mails spar in the water and show off their teeth.
