Oriole cafe has continued to build its brand around her art and love for coffee, and of late the cafe has been involved in the Oriole Creates movement, which embraces local art and music. And with Oriole’s growing participation with its local community, it feels like there is a “kampung spirit” amidst these activities. I felt that it would be apt to create an artwork that emphasizes and plays with this notion, to create “The Oriole Village”, building on the establishment and spirit of Oriole.

‘The Oriole Village’ artwork would feature Oriole cafe as a inspirational hub where the community gathers to unwind over a cup of coffee and food. It is also a place where artists and musicians come together to share their craft and passion, in creating new art or in playing music in the village. Instilling quirkiness to the characters and activities that surround the artwork would in turn add more fun to the brand and space.

Afew quirky ideas such as, featuring people relaxing and sunbathing with coffee instead of cocktails, a band high on caffeine playing music, people hanging out on a double step platform, someone watering the plants and flowers with a pot of coffee, coffee apparatus appeas as sculptures in the artwork, etc.
