When a word is pronounced a dozen times in a row, it loses its meaning, only to be a mix of sounds and letters.
This process is called "semantic satiation".
When you stare for a while at someone's face, it loses its beauty or ugliness, only to be a weird mix of eyes, nose, and mouth.
I chose to call it "human satiation".
I tried to recreate this process with this work: aesthetic and haunting portraits of people looking sick and in bad shape, so the notions of beauty and ugliness would cancel each other.
We face people in all their singularity, clear of judgement. Like we are no longer part of the human species.
Those photographs are to be printed on 1 by 1 meter prints and exposed on white walls.
