Boxes of Death 3D is an art show curated by Patrick Duffy & Justin Kane Elder of Electric Coffin. The show features 50 coffins by 50 different artists. The show opened in Seattle and is traveling to Portland and Los Angeles. A small pine coffin box was supplied to all of the invited artists to paint and decorate as they wish.
The Just Die It Coffin is a parody of the Just Do It Nike campaign. To execute this concept I chose to remake the box out of cardboard to the exact proportions of the supplied pine box. The intent of the piece is to create a product that closely resembles a Nike shoe box. Both in the engineering of the product and the look and feel. Of course I put my own spin on it. Just Die It sounds like "Just Diet". In all 5 coffins were made. Each coffin is hand numbered and signed. The shoe box can hold a pair of Nike low dunks up to a size 13 to be put to rest.
