South Africa and more specifically East London has a rich history of boxing, as an international press photographer I have the opportunity to often attend these bouts of guts-and-glory. The top boxing image was a semi-finalist Ā in the Nikon International photography 2009, sports section.
International IBF title fight, held in South Africa. This was an international commission for a UK boxing magazine. I got three page spread with a full gutter-to-gutter print of this image.
National title fight held in East London, South Africa. He lost his gum-guard at least once every round.

Another shot from the ring side of an IBF title fight. I shot this image with a 10-20mm wide angle to give the viewer an idea of how close the blows come to where we stand.
