PAN AND PARAPAN AMERICAN GAMES GUADALAJARA 2011
LOOK OF THE GAMES DESIGN / COORDINATION

In 2007, Guadalajara was chosen to host the Pan American Games and Parapan American Games 2011. A series of sports events that take place for 45 days and gather over 14,000 athletes and the National Sports Committees of 41 countries across all the American continent.

I was lucky to join the Organization Committee in 2008 as second in charge of the Design Department. My responsibilities in this project were designing the core graphic elements of the two events and coordinate their presence in 34 competition facilities (stadiums, tracks, fields, courts, streets and ports) and 25 official operational venues (hotels, airports, government buildings and operation centers).

The project required the participation of 58 people between designers, printers and technicians. The technical requirements of each sport, each location, the audience and the media represented not only a creative challenge from the communication standpoint, but also for the logistics and production areas.

As a result of our work, more than 15,000 pieces were designed and over 15 kilometers of different materials were produced in vinyl, fabric, canvas, paper, rigid and semi rigid surfaces. The pictures* included in this project show the presence of the graphics during the events and competitions (“Look and Feel of the Games”).
