The Mariner's Revenge Song Animated Comics
"We are two mariner's
Our ship's sole survivors
In this belly of whale.
Its ribs are ceiling beams
Its guts are carpeting.
I guess we'd have some time to kill..."
Four years ago a friend of mine, Renata Dutra, sent me a nine-minute song from an almost-unknown band in Brazil, called The Decemberists. I guess it's the most epic song that I ever heard. It give me chills everytime I listen to.That was "The Mariner's Revenge Song'.
Time passed and the song's still in my life. In the middle of 2011 I developed a project to the class of comics workshop, in the University, in Graphics Design graduation. It took exactly two weeks of work, divided in one week of drawing, and another one to finish the comics. I used simple canson paper spotted with coffee to add an ancient paper feel, and nankim, applied with bamboo (yeah, bamboo), pen and brush.
Well, enough said... The video speaks better than me.
