The words of Rumi, the sound of the ney - especially in the presence of the Aegean sea, have opened my eyes to the beauty and tranquility of Bodrum. I talked to a lot of people in the tea houses and they all generally came to settle here after just passing by, deciding to rest for a while and suddenly, made it their permanent anchor. Our neighborhood philosopher (My little brother’s favorite breakfast buddy/hangout person) claims this is the place that embraces "the peoples that the cities spat out”! I met a woman who plays the ney at every sunset sitting by the sea, sinking the sun. These are pages from the sketchbook I kept during my two week visit to my home there this winter break.
