Austrian Alps | December 2015 / January 2016
Hochsölden/Sölden, Ötztal, Northern-Tirol
At the end of 2015 I started working at a hotel in Sölden, right in the middle of the Austrian Alps. This trip ended up being my second trip to the Alps that year, focusing on photography in mountainous regions. As a kid I've never had the chance to roam around the high peaks of the Alps. Luckily, because of an earlier trip to the French Alps I had the chance to learn a thing or two about sudden weather changes which tend to occur at high altitude, which gear I had to pack and how to properly pack my backpack. With the luxury of having my own room I had the perfect setup to venture out everyday for 2 months straight. This way I had the opportunity to teach myself about minimal changes in light in mountainous areas, how I had to adjust my style of composition because of the lack of a horizon and how I could make such a dramatic landscape interesting in a series of photos. The result ended up being this series.
