In this project, I faced the design of a mask, having in consideration its cultural origin, according to a personal point of view.

This design is based in the shape of the moais, who represents the ancestors of the members of this civilization.
The bottom part of the face is bigger and sharpie in order to accentuate the tension on the face produced by the mouth shaped to express anger, but also referring to the shape of the island seen from a map. The teeth are represented by a pattern of a typical wall seen in prehistorical constructions in Easter Island.
This bottom part of the face and together with the beard (represented with the pattern of a modern Polynesian tattoo) also shapes the silhouette of a pen.
The pen is generally asociated with ways of expression like writing or drawing. For me is the symbol of the way that I uses to express myself through my drawings. On the other hand, in the past, while pen was not invented yet, people use to write using feathers from birds. Feathers on top of the head closed this design, and also refers to the chicken feathers that this people uses as a way to decorate themselves for rituals and festivities.
