Discrete Event Simulation Using ExtendSim 8

Discrete Event Simulation Using Extend Sim 8
Ever since I started using ExtendSim—then it was called Extend TM—I wanted to write a book that was a one stop shop for ExtendSim for discrete event simulation. That day has finally arrived.
I intended this book to be a blend of theory and application, presenting just enough theory to understand how to build a model, design a simulation experiment, and analyze the results. Most of the text is devoted to building models with ExtendSim 8, starting with a simple single-server queue and culminating with a transportation depot for package transfer and delivery. I have built all the models contained in this book with ExtendSim 8 LT, which limits the number of modeling blocks, but otherwise has the necessary ExtendSim 8 capabilities required.

Simulation in general is to pretend that one deals with a real thing while really working with an imitation. In operations research the imitation is a computer model of the simulated reality. A flight simulator on a PC is also a computer model of some aspects of the flight: it shows on the screen the controls and what the "pilot" (the youngster who operates it) is supposed to see from the "cockpit" (his armchair).
