GreenStop Rest Stop Prototype

This rest stop prototype for CALTRANS is composed of equal parts landscape,"softscape," and architectural construction, into which relatively costly infrastructural components can be inserted as needed. Using a toolkit of hard-wearing standard components (triangulated framing, board-and-batten siding, concrete slab-and-trench) borrowed from typical agricultural structures(barns, milking sheds, maintenance buildings), the Greenstop spine utilizes easily-replicated, low-cost construction that references the typologies of the Central Valley corridor. In combination, these components contribute to a network of power, water, and material resources that ensure off-the-grid performance throughout the year.
