Nowadays, in Turkey, under the name of “urban renewal” and with unearned income, far from artistic, unconscious,
the rush silhouette has been created in cities. So to say, I approached Istanbul as “under occupation”.I decided to do this dystopic project after one building has destroyed the silhouette of peninsula island. Gigantic buildings are constructed in wrong places. The city has been made outrageous but presented as a service by the municipality to the public.Huge constructions are not for “people” anymore, they are for “capital”.This situation made me think about it and made me feel like an enemy to the buildings. It causes me to feel afraid of Istanbul in future.I wanted to show the idea of dystopia by images,
in the name of “Phantoms of Future”.
The number of buildings will increase, until covering the sun.
