Illustrations for the poetry book ".comСомольскаяПРАVДА" (Komsomolskaya pravda), by Anton Prada and Olga Slavgorodskaya, released in 2010. More than 30 illustrators participated in the design of the book, each one creating an illustration for a spread featuring a poem. I was assigned the poems "Dead Presidents" and "Fairy Tales".
"Dead Presidents" is a metaphor for money. What is usually depicted on banknotes? Great people of the past: kings, generals, presidents. I depicted this literally as frightening creatures that envelop everything they can reach, just as money controls everything in our lives. "'Money doesn't solve everything' — that's a mantra for losers" are the last lines of the poem.
Dead presidents
"Fairy Tales" is a poem about girls who read fairy tales and waited for their charming princes, but never found them. I depicted a princess who, tired of unrealistic expectations, puts books about love through a meat grinder.
