All of a sudden I wanted to draw cars again. I used to draw lots of old american cars when I was younger, but I haven't really focused that much on drawing cars during the last 7 years or so. It is fun but can also be quite challenging. So on friday I decided to make 5 drawings. And to focus on some cars that I haven't drawn before or at the very least haven't drawn in a very long time. To make it a bit more interesting than just copying shapes from various reference photos I've put them in to some situations (more or less) together with humans. All of them turned out to be girls. Probably not that surprising when I look at the gender balance in most of my works.

The first drawing is of a Ford F100 from 1955. I've almost drawn this car before. When I was 8 or 9 years old I drew a 1956 F100 based on a 1:18 scale model car (that I still have). But I transformed it into a monster truck, pretty similar to the Tamiya Midnight Pumpkin RC car, and put some crushed cars underneath it.
The second one is a 1970 Dodge Dart GTS. Currently this is one of my favourites when it comes to american cars. It could be fun to own one myself one day. But I would have settled with something milder than a GTS with the 340 engine. A hardtop with a 318, an automatic transmission and a bench seat would do the job. But I'm not super picky about it. About 5 years ago I almost bought a 1974 Dart Custom with 4 doors and a 225 slant six.
The third one is a 1955 Ford Fairlane 4 door. I really don't have a story to go with this one. I just think they look good (as did most other cars I can think of from that year). When I look at the drawing now, I think the car looks a bit stretched. It is too long and too low.
The fourth drawing is of a 1971 Plymouth Roadrunner. Another car that I just think looks good. There is something with early 70's mopars that I find really fascinating.
The last drawing is of a 1951 Mercury. I didn't have any relationship to this car at all. I looked through a folder on my computer that is filled with pictures of cars, and this one showed up. It shares a lot with it's siblings made by Ford (the "shoebox" models) and were supposed to fill a gap between the cheaper Ford models and the more expensive Lincolns. All of these drawings are based on pictures I've found around the web. I don't know who the photographers are. But credit goes to whoever deserves it.

Thank you for watching!
