The concept to this project is encounter. To encounter a new beginning is the main element that has been thoroughly played throughout all of Hayao Miyazaki’s movie. Be it an encounter with a person, an animal or an object, it marks the beginning to Miyazaki’s plot – an encounter that brings the message of ‘it’s good to be alive.’
 
To portray encounter, the dialogue from the very first meeting of the main character with the secondary character is taken and translated into movie posters, promotional trailers and movie tickets.
 
To further establish the properties of ‘encounter,’ the feeling of touch is implemented to the visuals. It is as when a pencil touches a paper, it forms a minor dent from the back. This 3D effect is used to further strengthen the impact of an encounter and also to relay the touch when Miyazaki’s pencil touches his storyboard of traditional animation.

Each movie comes with a short promotional video that would be played across multiple online platforms. A 3 in 1 final video would then be released as the event draws near to reveal the event’s information. 
 
Hayao Miyazaki prioritise on giving breathing space for audiences so that they could focus on what is important rather than being distracted by the overwhelming details in the movie. Therefore, in all four of the videos, spacing and timing were heavily taken into the account during its production. 
 
Each video uses the main elements from each movie as the transitional effect of the videaos. Porco Rosso being the plane, My Neighbour Totoro with Totoro’s footprint and Princess Mononoke with the little forest Kodamas.

The dialogue of each movie was mismatched across the length of the 3 in 1 video. An additional frame are later revealed at the end of the video to provide audiences with the event’s information.
