 The Carnegie Museum After Hours--
For this project I had to get a photo to compliment a story that focused on the Carnegie Museum after it closed up for the night.  It was around Halloween so my idea was to show a surreal environment where there is implied motion of the feature exhibit.
 Nags Head Sunrise
Getting a good sunrise picture is a mix of pure luck, some skill, and a little strategy.  Here I laid on my stomach so I was slightly below where the tops of the waves were breaking.  It took 23 shots to get just the right now where the sun highlighted the waves.  I did use Photoshop to slightly bring out the backlighting of the waves and sharpen them.
Cross at Duquesne University
There's a beautiful cross on the grounds of Duquesne University.   I shot the photo at sunset, but using Photoshop created a highly stylistic image for an Easter poster.
 Glass Blower
My goal here was to draw the eye to two places--the fire and the reflection in his glasses.  Using Photoshop CS5 filters and image adjustments I brought out the reflection in the glasses and made the fire white hot.
 Waterfall
Here I literally stood at the edge of a waterall (in Ohiopyle) and shot straight down over the edge which was a good 25ft drop.  I liked the pattern of the water as it spilled over the rocks and then spread out below.  I used Photoshop to enhance the sharpness of the water flow near the highlighted area, and make it contrast against the darker water at the bottom of the falls.
 Outer Banks Sunrise
This is a case of being at the right place at the right time.  A spectacular sunrise was breaking over the horizon in Nags Head.   This image is captured pretty much as it appeared, but I did use Photoshop to bring out the lighter parts of the clouds to increase the dramatic effect of the sunrise.
 LIGHT TUNNEL
I was on assignment down at Oglebay Park, West Virginia shortly after the Christmas season.  I drove around at night capturing some of their famous light displays.  Here was my first attempt at using a low shutter speed to get wild effects.  This is a "tunnel of light"  and I set up my camera on a tripod at a very long shutter speed.  The streaks going through are a line of cars going through the light tunnel but only their headlights are captured.  If you look at the lower right hand side of the picture you can see a faint outline of the car door where it slowed down enough to register on film.
 Before and After Project
I needed to do a photo restoration for one of my photo design classes.  I chose this picture of family friends that was in terrible condition.  The negative was long gone so this was the last remaining image.
Using Photoshop 7 I was able to take out the tears, folds, stains and sun-faded damage and bring the picture back to life.
