Swift wrote that he always considered GULLIVER the story of a man going increasingly mad, which, when you look at the books in order, makes perfect sense.

As such, my take on this (to be developed over the next few months) is to see the events of all four books as events that take place on a single night. A man wakes up in his derelict apartment and imagines the rats are tiny Lilliputians out to entrap him in his own bedsheets. Frightened, he wanders the empty streets and comes across his Brobdingnagians in the form of these strange, gigantic commemorative statues in an abandoned park. It just keeps getting weirder and weirder as the full moon ascends.....
