Description: For my senior year capstone, students were placed in project groups and had roughly eight weeks to deliver a software project. AdLib is the resulting project. AdLib is a web content management system (CMS). The purpose of AdLib is for new artists in the advertising game to have a place to show off their work, vote and comment on other artists' work, and possibly get their ad noticed by corporations.
Challenges: AdLib was initially coded in C# using the .NET framework with a SQL Server backend database. DotNetNuke was used to handle site registration and other basic functionality. We had connectivity issues with the database and a small amount of time to have a project up and running. As implementation manager, I made the call to scrap the project and start from scratch with three weeks remaining before the first presentation. We changed from C# to PHP and from SQL Server to MySQL.
