Adobe Creative Jam - San Jose - Video Winner

Back in November the team at Dawnrunner had the pleasure of competing in Adobe's first ever Creative Jam for video at their headquarters in San Jose, CA. It was a huge amount of fun to create something without the constraints of our usual work. And we won the award for Best Video! Awards are always exciting.

We received the theme for the Jam at seven in the morning, and had till 5:30 to shoot whatever we needed to shoot; and then edited it together by 8:30 at Adobe's HQ. The theme was "Light" which is pretty broad as far as themes go, but right away we new we wanted to have a strong narrative. The final video had to be under 30 seconds so the narrative structure had to be pretty loose, and easy to understand.
We wanted to focus on light as a vehicle for disseminating information. Not literally like fibre optics but more figuratively; like how we know a red light means stop or a light on your dashboard means you need to get gas. Visually we went with something pretty sci-fi/cyberpunk, similar to the look of 80s future movies like Alien, and Bladerunner.

The entire thing was shot with a Red Epic in our San Jose Office which we dressed with tons of old network cables, a CRT screen, and an HP Logic Analyzer. We shot for a couple hours with the wonderful and talented Katy Guttman then headed over to Adobe where we edited, composited, and graded the 5k footage on two Dell laptops. Unfortunetly we didn't have a chance to take a lot of photos since we were working on this down to the wire; but I'll attach what we have.
