The owners of this restaurant would like the design to reflect their traditional Asian cuisine, with a contemporary atmosphere. There is also an emphasis on sustainability. The restaurant will be built inside of an 1850’s fire hall. The site has a lakeside location with a public beach nearby. The high foot traffic near this lake could allow the restaurant owners to capitalize from a takeout sushi menu for picnics and people on the go.

In order to accomplish this I will locate the sushi bar conveniently close to the entrance, allowing customers wishing to order take out to pick up their food without disturbing the elegance and pace of the sit down dining rooms. I envision the restaurant to be tranquil and relaxing. I have received most of my inspiration from Japanese Koi ponds and gardens, and wish to use similar forms and colors in my design. The ambiance must be retained all the while balancing the needs of a fully operational restaurant, considering aspects such as scents and sounds from the kitchen, safety in material choice, and ease of cleanliness.
