Taking part of the Hero Expo in 2015 at Friends of Design, we were provided with a blank Kidrobot Munny to customise as we saw fit. The theme being Super Hero ( either existing or created ), we had full creative freedom.

SPIDER-MAN
Spider-man was first created as the "face" of the Workshop that preceded the Expo. A part for the paint work using different techniques (from pencil, to primers and markers to different paint and glossy finish).

THE FLASH
Being an avid collector of comic books, Flash, more specifically Wally West, has always been an all time favourite hero for me. From the light heartedness of the character to his awesome super powers and the list goes on and on.

Starting off by cutting off his ears, sanding and cleaning all residue, he then got a coat of white primer. Making the light sketching and planning easier to stick to the model.

Using 2 part Epoxy Putty, I shaped his earpiece, molding them around the shape of the Munny's head.
Although they are commonly known to be lightning shaped, in the earlier Golden Age Flash, Jay Garrick's had wings on his helmet, paying homage to the Greek/Roman god Hermes/Mercury.

The inspiration behind his look is from a Funko PoP! Figurine I owned. The small round eyes and no mouth seemed more fitting to the Munny's body shape.

Using different size brushes, Munny Flash had a total of 3 layers of paint. But contrary to Spider-man who had a minimum of 2 layers of finish ( to obtain the glossy look ), Flash only had one, with a 24h drying period. Which gave it a semi-matt finish.

Overall, both Munny were extremely enjoyable to work with and I will definetely be doing more customisation in the future.
