Steal like an Artist, a book by Austin Kleon, was used in this student project to create an e-book format for electronic publishing. Two versions was created: a reflowable mobi book, ideal for Kindle users, as well as a fixed layout, for devices such as iBooks. 

The Kindle edition has to be reflowable, becasue the user can set all the font-sizes and spacing. Sections and chapters are devided by quotes and images about that chapter, to drive the point home.The user has full control over how he wants to read the book on his Kindle.

 

A fixed layout is designed for other devices, such as an Apple iPad, where the user can read the book in iBooks. Colour, video and preffered fonts are exported in a fixed version. Styles, spacing and colour is fixed and gives the designer more freedom develop an e-book in this format. The user can still read the book anywhere on his smart device, but has no control of the sizing of the bodycopy.
