SESSIO CHAIR | UNIVERSITY
The Sessio (latin for seat) started off by playing around with a few primary shapes with the aim of achieving a unique form which I had not seen before. I came up with the idea of supporting a person by using a ‘grabbing’ like form – try making a C figure with your hand. During the conceptual stage I didn’t have a material in mind, but I had just become acquainted with a friend who specializes in metal works, and this later influenced my decision to work with mild-steel, something which I had never done before.
The Sessio chair was produced for my 3 dimensional design studies.
