One of the projects for the Digital Illustration unit under my Illustration minor, we were required to illustrate 2 book covers according to 2 different novels. This is the novel 1Q84 by Haruki Murakami.
One of the the requirements for this project is to portray the theme of 'Parallel Worlds' based on a specific scene in the novel together with digital image making techniques.
The selected scene for 1Q84's book cover concept is the scene were the main character, Aomame looks over with her signature stone-cold expressions at the busy city of Shibuya when she decides to get out of the cab in the middle of the afternoon traffic. The cover also includes the 2 moons that Aomame cannot get her thoughts off of.
