A pepper grinder made for the Prototype and Modelling paper at Massey University, exhibiting design and materiality.

The Prototype has an exterior cavity turned from free machining aluminium holding the inner cedar cavity, pinned together by the aluminium handle. The top holds a resin disk recessed into the cedar imitating the millstone pattern. The smooth cedar exterior is stained with linseed oil.

The Model exterior cavity is turned cibatool spray painted with a high gloss silver to simulate aluminium. The inner cavity is stained cedar with an acrylic disk recessed into the top. The pin-lock mechanism enter through both cavities allowing the handle to crank back and forth along the semi-circled milled pathway.
