The Ant Barrier is an effective, environmentally sensitive pest control solution that prevents ants from accessing appliances with a slippery teflon coating. The device can be placed under the feet of appliances and clipped over their wires in order to prevent access. The need for such a product arose from the increasingly problematic species of ant, Technomyrmex pallipes, that lives in appliances, often rendering them damaged or broken. The product is non-toxic and can be constructed out of recycled plastic. It lasts for approximately 10 years, unlike toxic pyrethroid pesticides that only remain effective for up to a month.
Biomimicry is at play in the design, as it is inspired by the slippery, insect-cheating pitcher plant.
