Zoobles Rocktopia & Jungleopolis World
Here are 2 more World designs I did for Spin Master's Zoobles toy line, which were mainly used as backdrops in toy packaging and websites. Featured first is the Rocktopia World, inhabited by Dinosaur Zoobles, so we went for a pre-historic rocky landscape.
Here's my first sketch and its revision:
The revised sketch was then translated into a color version in Illustrator. I've added a bit of texture in Photoshop to enhance a rocky feel:
Next up: adding details in Photoshop. This is the fun part! Several revisions were made here, the biggest changes happening in the background: going from a mid-afternoon setting with high mountains to an evening setting with more dramatic lighting. We also added more and more shiny crystals for that much needed spark.

Jungleopolis
Next up is the Jungleopolis World: a tropical rain forest themed playground. I came up with this sketch, incorporating a slide and places where Zoobles could hide and play:
After client feedback a color version was made in Illustrator (left), with some lighting painted in Photoshop. On the right you see another revised version, in which I made the overall color scheme a bit cooler. The client wanted that deep in the forest look, where sunlight only sparsely enters. The fog enhances the damp rainforest vibe and adds a bit of mystery as well. The purple flowers on the right got a new look, more fitting into the Zoobles visual language we had used before.
More details, more details! Here's the final image, ready to send off to a happy client!

It was super fun to create these Worlds, even though my computer crashed a couple of times because of huge file sizes. Ouch.
