We were tasked to produce a video together using green screening and special effects. We wanted to focus on the way special effects could influence emotion and story narrative. We decided wanted to follow the main protagonist walking through a foggy empty world. Steadily growing ever tired by his constant exploring between islands. Trying to find someone and anyone that isn't a ghost roaming the city. The city then breaks apart, leaving him alone yet again on a single island. Prompting him to finally take off his mask and become enveloped into the fog at last.
We used Maya for animating and modelling the city into renders, inspired by games like Half Life 2's City 17 and STALKER. We then imported renders into After Effects where the majority of colouring, effects and compositing took place. We settled for this colour and general style because it captured the flow and beats of the music playing.
We had 12 weeks to learn and develop our project. From using and understanding green screening to devloping and filming our story. Music is called Dark and was produced by WillLoveStudios.
