By taking the form of a light and funny debate, George Brnard Shaw's Misalliance was ahead of its time by challenging British notions of women's liberation, capitalism, marriage, and identity during the Edwardian era of the early 1900s. In this play, women are the romantic pursuers of men, not the other way around. The poster's typography is meant to evoke a feeling of sheet music that was played in music halls of the time.
