The Saigon Zoo and Botanical Garden, established in 1864, is Vietnam's largest zoo and botanical garden. Located on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street in District 1, T.P. in Ho Chi Minh City, it is home to over a hundred species of mammals, reptiles and birds, as well as many rare orchids and ornamental plants. Ranked the eighth oldest zoo in the world, its other parts are divided into animal and plant conservation areas, an orchid garden and an amusement park.

 

Saigon Zoo is now in a downgrade situation. And signs, maps, tickets used in the Zoo are still not uniting. There is not a CIP as well as special color for the Saigon Zoo. And when visiting it, visitors can only stand and watch the animals, look at instruction signs. They don't have chance to get presentation from staffs of the Saigon Zoo. Thus, I think it is neccessary to redesign the Saigon Zoo.

 

Goal of this Redesigning is to create a clear and friendly Identification in visistors, especially children. The redesigning will focus into CIP, maps, instruction signs.....

It is especially important to create a 3D interaction between Saigon Zoo Staffs, children and animals with the purpose of educating children about environment, experience with animals. With this goal, I have created the set of passport and sets of stamps. The Saigon Zoo Passport is like a real travel passport. Children will receive it when they come to visit the zoo. And when they reach any cage of any animal, staffs will explain to them about that animal, then stamp into their passport, to recognize that they already see and know about that animal. With this kind of that, we can bring the zoo staffs, animal and children come together.

 

Through the redesigning, I hope that we can create the better service to support the need of studying and exploring of children. In the other hand, I hope that this can also create better income for the Saigon zoo itself to develop its activities, reduce the pressre of increasing ticket price and attract more visitors.
