Informational Poster Design Project

These posters are some of my first serious designs using Illustrator.  My intention was to highlight the required information while maintaining the natural beauty of the photographs.  In class we were given a group of pictures from which to select for these designs.  I chose the three you see below for my posters.
This poster was by far my favorite of the three and was the easiest for me to create.  I elected to use the dropper tool in Illustrator to select a background color from the photo.  I designed the color scheme around this color and the contrasting white snow capped mountains in the photos.  I chose to create a box and clipping mask around the photo as a frame to design the layout of this poster.  The fonts were simple choices and I feel the information is legible and visually appealing.
I found this particular picture to be a more challenging design project.  The beautiful arrays of color in the photograph were inspiring and I wanted to keep the typography and font colors simple to avoid distracting the eye of the viewer.  My use of drop shadows and transparent boxes helped me to clarify the information in the text visually.
This poster gave me the opportunity to experiment with using all capital letters, basic typography and a simple color scheme.  This simple use of color, basic typography and layout serve to display the information without distracting the viewer from the natural beauty in the photographs.  I used transparent boxes and drop shadows to help the text stand out from the background.
