In this project, we were required to design a food package for any airline.
I chose to do South African Airways, and crom this try and create a uniquely South African experience. This will be done by the food offerec, as well as, the entertainment that is offered.
I wanted to use the South African Airways colours as this is what SAA is known for, their colours also relate to South Africa.
They type that I used is Helvetica Neue, as it can be read easily, this will help if the plane has any turbulance
The sticker to seal the box is of a beaded broach which is popular amongst many cultures in South Africa
The patterns in the box are Ndebele pattens, and the sauces that are offered are all South African. There is text on the box to show tell the consumer a bit about South Africa, in terms of the language usedand popular sayings. This giving the consumer a taste of South Africa before they land in what ever country they are going too. It also reinforces to the South Africa citizens about the culture.
The box is like a book, this adds an element of surprise as you dont know what food is inside. The smaller food boxes are seperate, so that the consumer can keep the meal if they have eatten enough and give the rest to the air hostest.
The bead work will be done as a form of entertainment and as a gift for flying with SAA.
