Somewhere Beyond Heaven|上有天堂的地方

As a poetry collecting some thirty poems from 1999 to 2013, the Somewhere Beyond Heaven*(Complex Chinese title: 上有天堂的地方), written by Hongkongese scholar and poet Dr. TSANG Sui-Ming(曾瑞明), quietly yet poignantly depicts contemporary everyday landscapes regarding family, relationships, modernity and society through the author's unique and critical perspective.

To create a coherence of the body and the book cover, the bespoke visual tone of simplicity and emptiness was set to echo with the author's low-key, imperturbable and subtle writing style. While the typographical play of title was designed to deliver implicit yet poetic imagination. The seemingly arbitrary lines between the somehow askew positioned characters represents the distance between everyday lives we take for granted and the ones in reality, and forms a ladder that metaphorically expresses the idea of somewhere beyond above. Where does the ladder lead to? Heaven or the opposite? Or somewhere beyond? The poems leaves it to the readers to find their answers.
