The final project of the post-graduation in Motion Design, was the development of a 30 second commercial for a fictional gas station called Mont Blanc. The main goal of this project was to simulate a studio work environment and market competition, where half of the class was pitching against the other for the clients approval. The role of the client was thouroughly interpreted by João Seabra, CEO & 3D artist from Jump Willy. We had to define specific roles for each member and we were given a budget that would reflect our resource and staff costs; along with the briefing that included a script for the voice over. Regardless, everyone had to take part in other tasks to ensure the project pipeline was completed.
Our concept for the commercial was based on the company slogan "There's a world inside". We chose to take this literally and created a microscopic world, much like our own, where molecular beings multiply and give birth to the vehicles, structures and company paraphernalia. This world is in fact the fuel molecular structure. The narrative follows the evolution of this world, as it depicts the different products and services of the station, travelling by layers from a smaller to a larger scale, until it reaches the outside of the gas pump and reveals the company logo.
