The Metamorphosis
A graphic interpretation of Franz Kafka's 1915 novel.
A graphic interpretation of Franz Kafka’s short story about a traveling salesman’s grotesque transformation. There are two books in one. One half is in English with each character’s dialogue in its own family from a typeface, i.e. the dialogue from the dad is set in extra bold and the mother’s is set in light extended. The other half of the book is in German. There is also an additional layer of text as texture representing interpretations layered upon the narrative by outside cultural perspectives. The final photography for the book was shot as a metaphor for the substance left behind by the main character’s existence. The book is a leather bound hardcover, yet semi-flexible. (Fall 2006)
