Pepper is a package design project whose goal was to create an identity for a store that would design, package, and sell only their own store-brand products. After coming up with a store name and concept, I picked five different items to design packages for as examples.

After going through a long list of names, I settled on the name Pepper because it hints at a playful mood that would fit nicely with the Swiss design genre that I was inspired by. The next step was to design a logo for Pepper. After coming up with dozens of variations of typography-based logos, I finally managed to see the obvious and create a logo that is inspired by the top of a pepper shaker.
I then decided to design packages for cat food, soap, tea, bread, and ice cream. Despite the theme of simplicity, I knew I had to be super focused on the details on this project. I used the same font (Gill Sans) and a 45°-based layout throughout each package.

The product picture and name would take up one side of a package, the logo would be on another side, nutritional facts on another side, miscellaneous details on another side, etc. One side of each package would also have a halftone pattern. Additionally, the photos on the packages themselves would have a minimalistic look where they would be composed of a halftone pattern of one or two colors faded against a white background. I made the design for each package as consistent as possible, despite their vast difference in shape and size.
