In a former school the loft was refurbished to provide a quiet place for a 40 year old freelancer, the client, to rest. The main themes of the project are inspired by the song “Okinawa Love” by Dimitri From Paris. The layout includes a cross, cutting through all of the loft's elements - including the furniture and the carpet - to create a unique perspective. It allows us to become more aware of the entire space around us, as our eyes instinctively follow lines and direct our gaze. The junction of the cross presents an aerian interior garden as the living heart of the project. Following the suns trajectory from east to west, sunshine reaches the different structural elements at all times of the day to use as much as light as possible. This brightness is matched with soft, luxurious materials such as felt, smooth marble and torrefied cork in different shades ranging from white to grey to evoke feelings of calmness and serenity.
