Design Society Guest Lecture Posters 2014-15
As a designer for Design Society I generated possible ideas for posters that would be used to advertise each of the Design Society's event.
Each design takes inspiration from the lecture title, a reference to the subject of the lecture or creating an homage to the designer's own style of work.
The designs were then critiqued and creatively directed by chairman Jonny and the Design Society committee whilst retaining my execution of bold block colours and simple, flat forms.

Using Hey Studio's 'Every Hey' characters as inspiration, I designed each committee member of the Design Society to celebrate both the last lecture of the year and the committee themselves for making it all happen

Kyle and DMSQD are famous for their 'F**k it, what if we...' approach to design, making something new and experimental every time.
Therefore the two part poster shows a journey into the unknown, against 'the norm' and the discovery of the new.

The lecture by Darren Foley used examples of his own journey to illustrate the work of a designer after university goes through. Therefore the road signs used illustrate points where designers have to stop, go another direction, do a U turn when travelling their own particular path.

With this design, I tried to push to see what could be displayed around a university campus. A burning mortar board was one of the riskier things that Design Society had displayed but showed perfectly the idea of life after the celebrations.
